What is the UES ?
UES stands for university entry scheme. This scheme was started in 1950. By UES scheme candidates are shortlisted for permanent commission in executive (GS) branch and SSC in technical and executive branches. Applicants should be in the final year in an AICTE recognized university.
Eligibility Criteria
Age 21 to 24 years.
Gender: Men and Women ( women are eligible for pilot, observer, naval architecture only)
Nationality:
A candidate must be either be (1) A citizen of India (2) A subject to Nepal or Bhutan (3) A Tibetan refugee who came over in India before 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India (4) a person who migrated from Burma, Pakistan,, Sri Lanka, and east african countries of Kenya, Uganda, The United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Educational Qualification
Applicants should be in Final year of 4th or 5th year in an AICTE recognised university with one of the following disciplines and should have obtained a minimum of 60% aggregate marks till pre final year ( till 5th semester for BE / BTECH and 7th sem for 5 year integrated course ).
Important Note:
- Candidates must have a minimum of 60% marks in overall aggregate on completion of BE/ B Tech. The candidate who fails to meet the min cutoff percentage will not be will not be permitted to join INA Ezhimala.
- Candidates who have failed in Pilot Aptitude Battery Test earlier are not eligible for the Pilot entry.
- Candidates are not eligible for UES entry if they have not studied physics, chemistry and Mathematics at Intermediate level.
- Technical Branch Candidates can also be allotted Air Technical Specialization and will be appointed as Air Technical Officers by IHQ MoD navy.
Training Time
Candidates finally selected for UES will be officers in the rank of Sub Lieutenant and undergo 22 weeks Naval Orientation Course at the INA, Ezhimala , followed by professional training Establishments In case of executive general service entry course duration of NOC at INA would be 44 weeks.
